Probably the most anticipated track bike movie over made, the East Coast M.A.S.H premiere was finally here.
Some SF dudes made the trip for the premiere. this was awesome, because i wanna to see how they rode in NYC traffic.
The alleycat started at the polo courts (broome & chrystie/forsyth). With a good turn out in hand, i was siked to race because of the talent that had came out to participate. The likes of austin, yatika, dan and newcomer raf negron to name a few. After a delay waiting for a racer, race started just as quick as they said go, about 30+ racers were off !
first check point was Tompkins sqr. park, so i was the only one to hit essex/ave A. i got slowed down at houston st because i did not have the light. As this happened i saw the lead pack making the left onto Avenue A from houston. I knew i had to catch out quick if i wanted to be in contention. I got to the checkpoint and caught up to austin as he slipped and partially fell exiting Tompkins. Garret (mash) was with us as we raced up 1st. avenue and caught the rest of the pack. 2nd checkpoint being 52nd n 6th, we made da left on 23rd and headed up six. i followed dan wrong way up bway, to 24th to see austin and raf fly by going up six. With a half block lead, i lost the lead group in 6th ave traffic and i had to catch up. not really thinking, i went to 53 and 6th before i saw 2nd group (yatica & co.) roll in. 1st one out, i went down 52 and wrong way’d it up 7th to 55 and then wrong it up bway to the circle. thinking this over, i should of headed up six into the park all the way to lenox and 110. but instead i took Central park west all the way up. Fearing i was a good 5min back, i stepped on it to make some ground on dan raf doug n austin which would crash before heading to the upper west side CP’s. i hit lenox n 110 instead of skate park at 108 (in riverside) like the rest. i met up with doug along the way and went up riverside drive to 79 round-about. got on the highway and never looked back. bumper to bumper traffic def helped. doug sporting a da capability to coast took off on me about 57 ramp where the highway goes down to st level. with a 2-3 block lead i tried catching a skitch which was succesful for about ten blocks, but the mother driving the car politely asked if i could get of so i did. hahahaaa. doug nowhere in site i just tried to mantain good speed. at about canal raf rolls past me with some speed cruisin. i tried to catch up and maintained the fast pace he set in the middle lanes. making a pre-mature turn of the highway on barclay(i believe) and i made the turn on albany after all da WTC construction and ped traffic. hitting the CP 2nd and seconds ahead of raf i took off up exchange place, threw new and up broad st to wall. wall to water were i saw dan sprinting about 3 blocks behind me with raf right behind him. i was trying to lose, so i got off the saddle. rright at the Brooklyn bridge, i got jammed by a van and raf passed me but overshot the entrance. since i knew were i was goin i took second, luckily !
won some needed money (2 cash. $100 2nd nd $100 1st track), gshock and some kicks. swt !

good job DOUG (1st)

2. crihs, 3. dan, 4. raf negron, 5. andrew n 6. yatika
